● YUMINASHI 100L CONNECTING ROD 13-PIN, GENUINE JAPAN
(MSX/GROM '13-'21 / Z125 MONKEY '18-'21 / C125 SUPER CUB / CT125 HUNTER CUB / WAVE125i '14-'21... ) (13381-K26-900)
● This 100L connecting rod (13-pin) with 14mm width isn't a forged connecting rod, but it's the right connecting rod length which Honda should have installed on the 125 engines between 2013 and 2021.
Honda had this 100L length connecting rod installed between 2003 and 2014 on the old carbureted and fuel injection Wave125, Biz125 and Innova125 engines, which are the predecessors of the MSX/GROM engine types (which are produced from 2013 until 2021.)
● Honda took the 92.5L connecting rod from the 55mm stroke 110cc Honda Click110 scooters, to install these on their 2013 "new" 57.9mm stroke MSX/GROM125 engines, and we can say that this wasn't Honda's brightest idea, because that's when the connecting rods started to break in combination with a big bore kit.
The 100mm connecting rod (100L) was a solid, proven reliable connecting rod, perfectly in balance with the stock 57.9mm stroke engine (1.75 conrod/stroke ratio), and able to produce good power.
● If the stock conrod is broken from your 2013-2021 125 engine, and you need to replace it, then we strongly recommend everyone to install this 100L connecting rod instead on all the 125cc engines between 2013 and 2021 because it can take and handle a lot more power.
※ This special conrod need to be installed with the same special 26X33X14 bearing as the forged Yuminashi connecting rods, which we have available as a closed bearing version (LINK) to install on a stock 26mm crankpin, and as a split bearing version (LINK) for a 26mm stroker offset crankpin.
● WHAT TO EXPECT?
● What you can expect from going back to the specifications of the OG 2003-2014 engines 100L connecting rod is a good question, and the answer on that question is; a right away stronger running engine, because with a longer connecting rod the piston is spending more time at TDC (Top Death Center), which results in a stronger "push" from the compression, and it's sucking also harder/longer on your cylinder head so that you get a more/better result out of your cylinder head.
● A second benefit is that you are reducing the connecting rod angle a lot which means that you aren't pushing as much the piston against the cylinder wall which is the case with the shorter connecting rod, and this allows you to install a larger piston size without breaking the conrod.
The snapping of the connecting rod is a phenomenon that we immediately saw as soon as Honda changed from the 100L connecting rods to the 92.5L Click110 scooter connecting rods.
The reasons as described above are part of the reasons why our colleagues from the Kitaco company went back to the specifications of the OG 125 crankshaft to create their taller NEO 181 cylinder kit and their longer connecting rod NEO crankshaft which are both based on these OG 125 engines...
